Mayor Kasim Reed welcomed Mercedes-Benz to Georgia today following the announcement of the company’s plans to relocate its headquarters to the metropolitan Atlanta region.
“I want to extend a warm welcome to Mercedes-Benz and its employees who will soon establish new roots in the metropolitan Atlanta area,” said Mayor Reed. “Every day, companies are voting with their feet, choosing the City of Atlanta and the metro area to bring their dreams and build their businesses. My Administration will continue to work with our partners across the region to make metropolitan Atlanta the top choice for the businesses that call us home today and will call us home in the future.”
Since Mayor Reed was inaugurated in January 2009, economic development has been a key priority for his Administration. In the last five years, the City has focused on creating a thriving environment for technology and innovation, supporting world-class attractions and developments, engaging with global communities, and expanding opportunities for Atlanta’s young people that will result in a thriving, educated workforce for years to come.
More than one dozen major companies, including Porsche, Pulte Group, Carter’s, athenahealth, and Worldpay have chosen to move their headquarters or expand their campuses in Atlanta recently.
